2017 ROTARY FAMILY HEALTH DAY was held in the village of Haenertsburg from 3 - 5 October. The theme for this year was "She Conquers" which focused on girls aged between 14 and 20 to keep them in school and inform them about rape, HIV and AIDS, amongst other issues. This is a partnership programme led by the Department of Health and supported by Rotary and many NGOs and civil society organisations, of which CHoiCe was a major participant.

It was well attended over the three days. Our Club convenor for this project is Ruth Stuart-Thompson.

Planned services available to community members on the three days include : cancer awareness - pap smears, blood pressure and glucose testing, HIV counselling and testing, TB screening, eye testing and dental services. These will be provided through partnerships which bring the two main organisers together with civil society organisations including CHoiCe Trust, ANOVA, Life Line, FAMSA and others.

Rotary Haenertsburg combined their efforts with Tzaneen Rotary Club to be part of this Department of Health initiative for District 9400 on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 October 2015. The site of the clinic tests was Raphahlelo Clinic, near the SRDA offices, Raphahlelo Village, Ga-Kgapane (near Modjadjiskloof) in Limpopo.

THE ROTARY FAMILY HEALTH CAMPAIGN
The Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, invites all community members in South Africa to attend the Rotary Family Health Days campaign happening in all nine provinces in 120 sites. The campaign is in partnership with Rotarians in South Africa, PEPFAR, MTN SA Foundation, the SABC and Caxton. The partnership will be hosting the 3rd Rotary Family Health Days campaign over 3 days from 7- 9 October 2015. This event gives an impetus to the Department’s efforts for integrated mass health screenings in a bid to promote healthy lifestyles.
You will have access to free TB screening and testing, HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT), Vitamin A supplementation and healthy lifestyle information, immunisations, health screening (blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and others) and much more. On Thursday 8 October 2015 - this elderly gentleman was fitted with spectacles donated by Rotary after being screened by an optometrist at the Rotary Family Health Day at Ga-Kgapane, Limpopo.
